The Market for Technical Project Managers in San Francisco
Technical project managers possess a unique combination of technical, managerial and organizational skills to shepherd projects that meet business objectives. From a project’s inception to its final deployment — plus ongoing maintenance and improvements — project managers are responsible for communicating between technical and business teams.
According to CareerOneStop, the employment of technical project managers is projected to grow by 9% — much faster than the average for all other occupations. Keep in mind, not all tech project managers work within a software or technical organization. For those interested in lending their talents to tech-specific companies, you’re in luck. With Silicon Valley remaining a hotbed of innovation, you can apply for roles at Oracle, Salesforce, Tesla, VMware and Snap, Inc., just to name a few.
Regardless of where you apply, you’ll need the right skills to get the job done. In addition to the soft skills of communication, collaboration, active listening and time management, successful project managers bring their knowledge of data collection, project planning and technology to the role.
